Brain Metastases

Pituitary Adenomas
Pituitary adenomas arising from the pituitary gland that is responsible for hormone secretion in the brain. Pituitary adenomas can manifest themselves with hormonal imbalance or vision loss. Medications, surgical methods and Gamma Knife can be used in the treatment of these tumors. Gamma Knife radiosurgery provides effective and safe treatment especially for pituitary tumors with high recurrence and high surgical risk.
Meningiomas
Meningiomas are usually benign tumors and they are taking origin from cap cells of brain membrane. Although surgical treatment is the first choice, the risk of surgery may be higher than in the area where meningiomas are present and it may not be possible to remove them completely. In this case, Gamma Knife radiosurgery offers an effective and safe treatment option. Gamma Knife may reduce the high risk of surgeries particularly in skull base meningiomas.
Vestibular Schwannoma (Acoustic Neuroma)
Vestibular schwannomas are benign tumors arising from the nerve responsible from hearing and balance. Hearing loss at various ratios, ear tinnitus and imbalance are the most common symptoms of these benign tumors. Although surgical intervention is the choice for the lesions larger than 3.5-4 cm, after reports that described high control and effectiveness treatment, Gamma Knife treatment has become the standard treatment for medium and small lesions. Compared to open surgery, the risk of hearing loss and facial paralysis is much less in the treatment with Gamma Knife. Arteriovenous Malformations
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are abnormal vascular bundles seen in the brain. AVMs can cause hemorrhage, weakness and seizures. Brain hemorrhage that may develop leads to very serious clinical problems. Moreover, the seizures they cause are reducing the quality of life of the patient.
AVMs can be surgically removed, clogged with the method called embolization, or destroyed by radiosurgery. Sometimes these methods are used in addition to each other. However, surgical treatment of AVMs, especially in the deep-located or brain eloquent regions of the brain, is very risky and sometimes surgical intervention is not possible. In this patient group, the Gamma Knife provides a very effective and safe treatment option.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
Trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by sudden and violent lightning strikes that last from a few seconds to a few minutes in the mid-half of the distribution of the trigeminal nerve. Due to severe pain in patients with trigeminal neuralgia, their quality of life deteriorates further and they are exposed to side effects because they increase the doses of the medications they use. Gamma Knife therapy is a highly effective treatment option for these patients and is more effective than local injection procedures and may reduce the addictions of the medications.
